My experience at Miss K.....12-02-2011

We were in the mood for something light and scrumptious for lunch. Preferable a little side street café, where we could bask in the sun while enjoying our meal and sipping on our wine. We came across Miss K and decided to go in. Although we sat outside I popped my head in to see what it was like on the inside. The light coloured interior gives you that fresh feel and of course the delicious looking treats (especially the massive skuimpies, a.k.a meringue’s) made my mouth water.
We placed our drinks order only to be told after a few minutes by a different waiter that everything we ordered they did not have. Great start right! So we amended our order and waited a surprisingly long time seeing as they were not that busy and our drinks order (bottle of wine and a rockshandy) was quite simply.
I ordered the Seared rare beef fillet, mustard, caramelized onion & horseradish sandwich combination. I was not sure on whether to have it as a wrap, or on whole wheat or ciabatta loaf. The waiter recommended the wrap which I gladly went with.
The wrap was delicious! The combination of the sweet onions with the tangy mustard was a success. The actual wrap is quite thicker than normal wraps. It was served with a normal butter knife. I would definitely suggest they serve it with a steak knife instead, as one would really struggle to cut it without destroying it by using just a normal knife. After I asked the waiter he brought me a steak knife but this steak knife was not much sharper than the normal knife I had before. The wrap was so filling that I only managed to eat half of it and asked the waiter to box the rest of the wrap for me.
Only after we had left and I was about 5 km down the road, did I realize that the waiter never brought me my take away wrap. Seeing as it was so good I really wanted my other half. I called Miss K and luckily they still had it. I was a bit weary of going back to fetch it seeing as I used to work as a waitress many years ago so I know what happens to left over’s in the kitchen. None the less I went back. This time a different waiter (the same one that came to tell us that the drinks we ordered they didn’t have) helped me and assured me that nothing had happened to my wrap. Turns out the waiter that served us was at the end of his shift, which must have been why he served us with such little enthusiasm. Seeing as I know you can’t base your opinion of a restaurant’s service on one bad apple, I will definitely go back there. The food is extremely tasty and wholesome. The perfect place to pop by for a quick, light lunch. I can see it being very popular during the week.
